Cool story that might add a bit of inspiration to your day…
Milton Hershey, one of the world’s most generous philanthropists, took a bold move.
His 1st, 2nd, 3rd (and more) attempts at launching a caramel candy company failed until he was forced to return home at age 28. He was broke and a disappointment to his family.
He took a bold move despite no evidence of success and finally built what we know as the Hershey empire today.
(It’s a bit like Cadburys in the UK, but not as tasty 😉 )
Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop, made a bold move to support herself and her children.
For her, the bold move to start the business as a means to support herself and her kids, was all about survival.
She was bold and thought BIG.
She went on to sell The Body Shop for a little over 800 million dollars.
And last, but not least, the great George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, struggled to get support for his idea because of so many past failures.
“My first 6 years in business were hopeless.” Lucas recalls. But, he took a bold move and did something no one in the industry would ever think of… (He made a soap opera set in space with a big fluffy upright walking dog who’s best mates with Harrison Ford).
It was bold. He believed in his idea and was willing to see the bigger picture. The rest is history.
