The other day, I was watching a brilliant TV show on Netflix called “His and Hers”, and in the middle of the show there was one particularly touching scene.
The mother of the protagonist is suffering from dementia, and she offers to make her daughter some eggs. Without realizing it, she serves an omelette with the eggshells still inside.
Now this may have tugged on my heart-strings a little more than most, because I spent the last year looking after my mother with advanced stage Alzheimers and I remember the days when she would get confused with little things like this.
Anyway, in the show, her daughter, very politely, decides to take the eggs on the road to eat later, in order to avoid offending her mother or causing her the embarrassment of realizing that she’s losing her marbles.
But the really weird thing about that whole scene – and the reason I’m sharing it with you is this…
There are some coaches out there who actually do eat the shells of eggs in their business!
“What in the world are you talking about, Mamoon?”
Glad you asked.
The way I see it, eating the eggshells is exactly like what coaches do when they spend time chewing, ruminating, and thinking about all the “unsubscribes” who leave their email list.
In fact, it’s a question I get a lot – many variations of:
“Mamoon, if I send lots of emails like you do, what about all of the unsubscribes?”
And the truth is, it is a total waste of mental energy even thinking about “unsubscribes”, let alone trying to save yourself from having any.
The funny thing is, usually the emails that generate the highest number of unsubscribes are actually the emails that generate the highest number of sales or, for coaches, intro session bookings.
You want to know why?
It’s because if you’re communicating authentically with your audience, they’ll know whether they want to hear more from you or whether you’re just not for them.
This isn’t something to fear or shy away from.
This is something to embrace.
Because, at the end of the day, why would you want to be communicating with people who don’t want to hear from you?
The only way to really attract the people you want is to repel the people you don’t want… and who don’t want you.
The good news is, if you want to stop chewing up the eggshells of your business and stop wasting time and energy on things that genuinely don’t matter, then I have a plan for you.
In fact, I have a simple five-step plan for you – which is the same plan I’ve used for over 15 years to keep my business full of happy clients.
This plan might not be exciting.
In fact, it might even seem a little boring.
There’s nothing fancy or ‘sexy’ about it.
It doesn’t require any fancy robot-technology or “artificial intelligence”.
But it does require a little bit of human intelligence.
If you think you can handle that, then check out this free training on the timeless five-step plan any coach can use to attract clients on a consistent basis, without wasting mental energy on things that don’t matter:
