Question:
How many emails should I be sending a week?
My Answer:
As many as you possibly can.
Now it might seem like that answer is a bit of an exaggeration.
Surely one email a day would be far too many… and what about two emails a day? That would be insane, right?
Well, as of yet, I have not reached the upper limit on how many emails my list of prospects can ‘tolerate’. In other words, so far there has been no drop-off of open rates or sales at all on my emails, no matter how many I send.
The only limiting factor has been… ME!
My own personal pattern is that I get excited, I write a bunch of emails, send them out roughly daily or five days a week… and then after a while, I lose steam.
Now, in an ideal world, I would write two emails a day because I have two email lists.
So I would send one a day to my main “Spiritual List” and one a day to this “Coach List”.
And some days I do that, but most days I don't.
The point is, when I don't do it, it's not because it's not the OPTIMAL thing to do, from a business point of view.
It's because I run out of bandwidth myself and get busy delivering intro sessions, serving clients, doing other business-y stuff like taxes… or I just got plain ol’ lazy.
Which brings me to the main subject of today’s message, which is: List Abuse.
This is something I have unfortunately partaken in myself more times than I’d like to remember.
I consider “List Abuse” to be any time that you or I let more than a couple of days pass without an email going out to your audience, giving them or directing them to a solid, life-enhancing piece of content.
Now, ideally that content is the email itself, but if not, it could be another piece of audio or video content.
Any more than two days going by without you serving your audience and you're basically “abusing” that email list of yours.
The good news is, you don’t have to be perfect to run a very successful coaching business.
A good system can cover many marketing sins.
