That Friday Feeling…

Today, I'm on vacation.

However, most of the year, on a Friday I'm at my desk, talking to new potential clients who are fans of me and my work, are pre-sold on working with me and are ready to sign-up to my coaching programs.

I still take them through a very specific sequence of questions and do an ‘intake' session, in a very thorough way, to make sure they come into my program the right way and we're all on the same page.

But, to the most part, it's a delight.

I get to choose who I work with.

I get to set the prices I want for my coaching.

I get to fill up my group coaching programs.

And I never need to ‘think' about what to do and say during these sessions.

Instead, I breeze through the day, knowing that I'll likely start the weekend with a ‘raise'. Again.

That's why I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Friday Feeling!

Let me do your marketing for you?

Yesterday I shared some ideas on ‘Fun Maths'.

For most coaches, marketing is the hard, boring, challenging, ‘homework' part of growing a thriving coaching business.

Not for me. I know this might be weird… but for me it's actually as fun… maybe even MORE fun than coaching itself. It didn't start out that way. When I began my business over a decade ago, marketing was a ‘necessary evil' I had to learn about in order to get clients coming through the door.

But, now, it's every bit as rewarding and fulfilling as coaching people, because I see marketing and sales as being an equally important part of someone's transformation.

After all, if they don't hear about you… and never have the opportunity to sign up with you… they'll never get to be coached by you and have their life transformed!

However, as much as I enjoy marketing and sing its praises… I know a lot of coaches don't… yet. So for now, why not let me do it for you? Or more accurately, with you.

The easy way to fill a Group Coaching program

A question from a subscriber, after watching the Never Ending Stream Of Clients web-class:

“I am a former psychotherapist reinvented as a “coach”. I am NOT interested in having a busy practice of individual clients. I am only interested in doing group coaching. How would your program apply ONLY to that?”

Super-easy.

Most of my income comes from group coaching, not 1-to-1 coaching (although I do like to keep a handful of 1-to-1 clients at any given time, just to keep my skills sharp… and because it's super fun for me!)

The way to do it is…

Follow the 5-step Never Ending Stream Of Clients system exactly as it is.

When it comes to the ‘Breakthrough Session' part, which is taught in detail in Step 3, simply invite the 3 individuals you talk with each week to join your Group Coaching program, instead of inviting them to work with you 1-to-1.

Yes – when you use my system, you'll set yourself up with 3 new potential client session every week, all year round, unless you're on vacation. On average that will give you one new client each week and likely more, depending on your niche, audience and price-point (all explained in detail in the program).

I'd recommend you even consider charging the same amount for your group as you would have for your 1-to-1 coaching, if you decide to eliminate the 1-to-1 option altogether (…mainly because most coaches undercharge for their services and dramatically underestimate the perceived value of Group Coaching).

Clients tend to get roughly the same results in a group as they do via 1-to-1 coaching… and often even better! Plus, you can choose to make it a whole lot more affordable, so your sign-up rate goes through the roof, while your dollar per hour rate becomes obscenely high… and your calendar gets completely freed up.

(And I LOVE it!)

There are more tips on this inside the program, including what to do if the person you're talking with is the first and ONLY group member… that results in them not thinking it's weird, or awkward… and actually profusely thanking you for signing them up.

But for now, think about this…

1 Group Coaching session per week. 3 Introductory sessions per week.

Total time: 5 hours. Total income: sky's the limit.

If you keep your group to only 20 people and charge only $500 per month…

You've hit $10K per month, working less than 1 day per week.

FUN Maths!

Time to have some fun and do the ONLY kind of math (Brits call it Maths!) worth doing…

FUN MATHS.

Imagine you set your coaching business up according to the principles and system I teach, so each week one new coaching client signs up.

Let's assume you under-charge ($500 per month). And let's assume you have a below-average sign up rate (33%).

But, the whole time you stick with the Never Ending Stream Of Clients System – so each week, your calendar ‘auto-magically' has 3 new potential clients signed up for an introductory coaching session.

Here's how it would all pan out:

Week 1 – 1 new client => Your coaching income becomes $500 per month

Week 2 – another new client => You're now on $1,000 per month

By first month of the system working, you're on $2,000 per month.

By the end of Month 2 => $4,000 per month.

By the end of Month 4 (assuming one of those months had 5 weeks) => $8,500.

That's right – it would take you about 4 months to build up to the point where you're making a 6-figure income as a coach. (Because $100,000 divided by 12 months is $8,333.33 )

Not everyone does it in such a short space of time – mostly because there are lot of things to ‘get right' and it takes some tweaking.

However, when each of the 5 steps of the NESOC system is working, you can expect the money to start building up very quickly.

Following the same maths, 50 weeks later, your coaching income would now be a whopping:

$25,000 PER MONTH!

Keep it going at that steady pace and you'll make multi-six figures with almost-zero overheads in your second year in business, aside from some almost-negligible software costs.

Some people's minds play tricks with them at this point.

“Ah, but I don't want to work that hard”
=> Who said anything about ‘hard' work…? Coaching is fun and easy, and you could enrol everyone into a group. (See yesterday's email on Group Coaching).

“Ah, but I couldn't charge that much”
=> Yeah, because you'll probably soon be charging much more, depending on what else you package into your coaching (lots of ideas inside the program)

“Ah, but clients only sign up for 12 weeks in my program”
=> That's because you're not using my system yet – where everyone, happily signs up for a year… and is super-happy about it!

“Ah, but my sign up rate wouldn't be that high”.
=> You're right. It should be much higher if you use the system I teach inside the program.

You can always talk yourself out of success.

My job as your coach inside the ‘Never Ending Stream Of Clients' program is to talk you into your highest potential and success.

When you let go of the limiting B.S., you might just find yourself living your dream life and enjoying your dream coaching business.

The value of your presence

How much is your presence really worth?

As coaches, all we really do is give people the opportunity to buy our presence, packaged up in a convenient way.

Why would anyone invest in that? What's really in it for them?

When you give your full presence and attention to someone, in the structure of a coaching session, they…

  • They automatically become more present themselves than they likely would have, without you.

  • They pay more attention to what they're saying and become more aware of language and thought patterns they're repeating

  • They drop unconscious ways they've been using to sabotage their goals and dreams, by simply becoming aware of them

  • They are more likely to have insightful realisations about themselves, their goals, and gain crystal clear insight on the path forward

  • They can finally express themselves in ways that they can't with their family, friends and co-workers… and they can finally be free to be themselves

  • They discover they can be, do and have a lot more than they ever thought possible, because with a free and quiet mind… anything is possible

  • They feel heard and seen and that leads to inspiration and uplifting energy

  • They can share all their ‘baggage' without being concerned that it might ‘stick' to you, bring you down, or that you'll think less of them

  • They can feel normal about – and let go of – all their ‘stuff' because of the space of non-judgement you've created
  • 1 + 1 = 1,000. There's a powerful effect of the coaching process, where your presence as Coach, plus their presence as Client leads to much more change than either one of you could have created by trying to figure it out on your own.

In my personal experience, this simple process of being in the presence of a fully-present coach has been by far the single most powerful catalyst for my own transformation.

Pretty much all of my substantial goals were achieved through working directly with a coach, getting clear and focused and letting go of my inner-blocks. All of this happened through the power of the coach's non-judgmental, neutral, loving presence.

What you bring to people can't be quantified – only the results that show up afterwards can be. But if you ask any of my clients – they'll all say that in the end, the result was minor compared with the tremendous inner-transformation they experienced.

Nightmare On Tech Street

For most coaches, there's something way more scary than Freddie Kruger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Mike Myers from Halloween, and Vecna from Stranger Things…

You guessed it…

The biggest nightmare when starting your business is realising that even if you want a totally in-person, face-to-face coaching business, you still need to use… TECHNOLOGY.

This often comes as a bit of a shock to people who are starting up their coaching business for the first time.

In fact, here are some of the delights you can look forward to if you're serious about making big money as a professional coach. (Note: you can actually use this list as a step-by-step guide to setting up the tech you need to run your coaching business):

  • Put up a website that you can edit yourself in the back-end

  • Hook up your website with a software that easily creates opt-in pages and sales pages

  • Get your email system (auto-responder) to generate some html code that you can insert into your sales page or lead-page so you can capture people's names and email addresses from your website

  • Set up an automation to automatically send people the ‘gift' that they opt-in for

  • Send broadcast emails out using your email system (so everyone on your list receives an email at the same time)

  • Send ‘autoresponder' emails out using your email system (so people can get certain emails a set number of days after they join your list)

  • Set up a payment gateway that hooks up with your bank account

  • Set up a shopping cart that you can use to enter people's card information so that they're billed automatically every month

  • Hook up your payment gateway with your shopping cart so that when you charge people inside your shopping cart, the money actually shows up a few days (or hours) later in your bank account

  • Set up ‘product order forms' in your shopping cart that match the price points of your coaching programs and info-products

  • Hook up your sales page with the order form in your shopping cart

  • And, if you want to get fancy and have information products, you'll also want to hook up the ‘product' in your shopping cart with the membership site where you host the information product videos.

  • Set up a sequence of automated and broadcast emails people get when they buy your coaching program(s) that informs them of the day, time, link, etc.

  • Setting up an online calendar system that you link to in certain emails so that multiple people can schedule themselves into your calendar at convenient times

That's the absolute bare minimum of tech set up you'll need to run a coaching business that's capable of going from zero to multi-six figures. There are a few more steps if you want it to get to 7-figures, mostly to do with the ease of setting up your information products and affiliate links, to make it easier for people to promote you.

Sure, you can skip a lot of these steps, but you'll end up creating a lot of clutter and mess and coming across a bit unprofessional… and spend a lot of time responding to questions like: “where's my stuff, when are our sessions, where can I find the Zoom link, etc… “

Or worse, you'll be trying to track and chase down individual clients to fulfil their payment plans (instead of the system doing that for you and locking them out if they don't respond).

If you want the quickest, easiest, most time-effective (and therefore cost-effective) way of getting all the above set up with the least amount of fuss possible, I highly recommend doing a deep dive into STEP 1 of the 5-step Never Ending Stream Of Clients system. It give specific recommendations on how to get all of your tech handled, once and for all, so your coaching business is ready to scale up.
