Why money is unlimited

Struggling Coaches see money as a limited resource. Rich Coaches see money as an unlimited resource.

Money is a tool we use to exchange value.

You and I can sit in a room all day and create zero value for anyone, and we'll likely get paid zero money.

On the other hand, we could sit in the same room and spend the entire day creating immense value for the world – through our coaching, or creating and delivering products and services that millions of people want and find highly valuable. If we do that, we'll be paid in abundance.

Because we can create value ‘out of thin air', using the incredible power of our creative thinking, by focusing it on solving problems people have… that means we can **almost** create money ‘out of thin air'.

In this way money is not a limited resource, because the value we can create is not limited. It's as unlimited as creativity itself. It's as unlimited as our imaginations.

We don't get paid for dreaming big dreams (directly).

Instead we get paid for dreaming up solutions to people's real-life problems, then creating those solutions, testing them out, making sure they work… then letting people buy them from us.

In practical terms, the key here is to figure out what problems people actually have that they would pay almost anything to have solved for them… then get to work on solving it.

The Rich Coach's step-by-step plan for doing this is:

  1. Invite people to a 1-to-1 Breakthrough Coaching session

  2. Listen deeply and take notes during or immediately after the session on their biggest goals and challenges (in their words)

  3. Let them hire you and coach them through coming up with the solutions for themselves (and share your perspective where you can)

  4. Notice the solutions that really work and that keep coming up for clients

  5. Create a leveraged group program or information-product where you solve the problem for many people at once (instead of 1-to-1)

  6. Use the clients' own words to describe exactly what the problem is, what the solution is, and the benefits of having it solved

  7. Spread the word to everyone about the incredible solution to a real-world problem that you've created for people.

The cool thing about this is that you get paid as you create the ‘ultimate' solution to someone's problem.

Of course, this only works if you know how to coach someone to find their own solutions (the essence of true coaching).

And, it only works if you've got a way of inviting people to (and filling up) your introductory Breakthrough Coaching Session calendar.

And, an email list of prospects is sure helpful too.

How broke coaches get clients

It’s true. Every now and then, even broke coaches get clients.

If you want to struggle with money for the rest of your coaching career, then here’s a carefully designed step-by-step plan showing you exactly how all those broke coaches do it…

  • Have all kinds of random inspirational quotes & explanations of your coaching on your website… with no call to action

  • Charge per session so clients have a strong incentive to not have another session with you – and have to rethink their decision to hire you every single week before you meet

  • Let the client decide how long they want to hire you for, to demonstrate that you're insecure about your services and don't really know what you're doing

  • Dramatically undercharge for your 1-to-1 coaching service

  • Don't have any group coaching or info-product option, so if someone can't afford your 1-to-1 rate, you just lower it even further for them or lose the client.

  • Have a sign plastered all over your website to call you for a free, no obligation consultation or free coaching session which everyone probably perceives as a zero-value sales call

  • Never reach out to your friends, family and colleagues to let them know you're starting a coaching business and if it ever does come up, get insecure, needy and sales-y with them, because you don't know how to frame it or get them to support you and full-on promote you

  • Post the price of your coaching sessions on your website

  • Do sample coaching sessions, where you solve all their problems for them, then never mention your coaching rates… or worse still, mention your rates and leave the session with an awkward silence where they tell you they'll go away and ‘think about it'… leaving you ‘incomplete

  • Chase potential clients instead of setting things up so that they chase you

  • Never grow your email list or send out any valuable articles or content that show people you know what your doing

  • Never pick a niche

  • Occasionally post on ‘valuable content' on social media but with no clear or compelling call-to-action… and then freak out about how few people engage…

  • …Then spend the rest of the day on social media engaging with everyone else's ‘valuable content' and wind up feeling like you wasted your time. (Because you did).

  • Finally, and most importantly if you want to work really, really hard as a coach but never bring in consistent cash, clients or reliable income, then be sure to never watch this masterclass, and justify it because you're too busy doing everything else on this list.

The sad part is that all of the methods above do work every once in a while. If you work hard enough, you will still occasionally get clients doing the things above. But, you'll get a tiny fraction of the results for the energy you put in, compared to when you do things the easy, efficient, powerfully productive and profitable way.

When a client blames you for their results…

A few years ago a client came to me out of the blue and wanted to hire me for business coaching.

I don't do much 1-to-1 coaching… and it's pretty pricy. But that didn't stop her. She had a solid niche and I could see massive potential for her to increase her income if she would implement some simple strategies. She loved it and paid me about $2K per month to guide her through the process.

I realised she had a lot of contacts in the corporate world and her niche lended itself perfectly for an info-product that she could comfortably sell hundreds (or potentially thousands) of copies of.

She had the contacts required to get the product in front of as much traffic as we wanted.

It was potentially an overnight success story waiting to happen.

I over-delivered for her.

I wrote an entire Automated Webinar script for her. I gave her templates, then tweaked them to match her offer and audience. I played with her branding and price point. I even gave her access to a member of my own marketing team to fine-tune some of the marketing and technology pieces to make sure she couldn't fail and that we totally nailed it for her.

I pre-wrote half a dozen emails so the product was ready to launch.

We had a potentially 6-figure machine built and ready to go.

And then….

Nothing.

She ghosted us.

Stopped showing up for sessions.

Didn't respond to emails.

Stopped paying.

I figured she must have implemented what we gave her, got busy and was about to send us a celebration email any day now…

It turns out that didn't happen.

Instead, she freaked out. I don't know why to this day – she never really opened up about it.

From an email ‘rant' we received a few weeks later… it seems that her limiting beliefs about money crept in. Maybe her self image as a corporate employee ran up against her new life as a 6-figure-per-year-with-almost-zero-work-required automated cash machine owner. If she would have been open to it, or showed up to her sessions, I could have coached her through it. But instead…

…It turned dark.

She blamed me.

She blamed my team.

I figured she must have sent out the emails and not gotten the results she hoped for first time around (I would have been surprised given my marketing super-powers… but that's still a totally normal situation that can easily be fixed).

But no.

It turns out, she never sent a single email to her list.

Never sent my pre-written messages to her potential JV partners.

She never let anyone watch her perfectly scripted and well-presented automated webinar. And she never let anyone even see the offer (which was already built and would have been automatically delivered).

To this day, she never made back her investment. And to this day, she blames me.

You want to know how much of my time, energy and attention this situation took up outside of the coaching & consulting sessions I delivered for her?

About 75 seconds in a team meeting to off-board her from our system. (She was a ‘Platinum' client after all. A ‘Gold' or ‘Silver' client would have been off-boarded by my team without me even having to think about it).

You want to know why all this drama didn't zap my energy or attention?

Because, thanks to the abundant grace of the Almighty… I have a Never Ending Stream Of Clients.

So as soon as one client demonstrates that they're not worthy of my time and attention, they're out and replaced later that week with a better one, with zero additional effort or energy on my part.

That puts me in a great position.

Right now I can honestly say, every single one of my clients – whether in my spiritual niche, or from the newly founded “Rich Coach Community”… all my current clients are literally my DREAM clients.

That's because I'm spoilt for choice. So I choose people who resonate with what I teach and are happy and grateful to work with me.

Client-Getting Systems

When I started my coaching business, I was in a very scarce mindset.

I didn't know what my coaching was worth, if anyone out there would pay for it, or what to do to get clients.

I undercharged dramatically for my coaching service – about £15 per session for 2x 30-minute sessions per month. I somehow got 2 equally broke students to sign up for that… but I had no idea how this could result in a making a living.

However, I eventually discovered something that made all the difference and lead to me getting 20 clients in the space of one month.

It was Step 3 of the “Never Ending Stream Of Clients” system that I call, “Breakthrough Sessions”. These are introductory coaching sessions that are carefully designed in a way that provide the perfect intake session for a new potential client and gets them to see the value in hiring you.

It also takes care of little details like how to explain your pricing, how to package up your coaching service and how to ‘sell', without much effort, and with zero ‘sales-y-ness'.

Ultimately, what I discovered is that the best way to overcome any scarce money issues, is to create a SYSTEM that results in clients finding you and signing up with you. Pretty soon, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to working with clients, you can raise your fees (and you'll have plenty of people happy to pay them), and ultimately, when you've created a system like this, it takes the ‘personal' edge out of your coaching business… and your income becomes a lot more certain.

When you have a client-getting system in place:

  • You increase your client base and income every week – and it doesn't seem like a big deal any more

  • You can give yourself a ‘raise' pretty much every weekend (especially if you set your Breakthrough Session calendar up on Fridays like I do).

  • There's no more ‘feast' and ‘famine' cycle of frantically trying to ‘get' clients, then serving them for a while, then running out of money and rushing back to trying to find clients again

  • You never feel like you're working too hard or getting drained by sales and marketing (because the system is doing most of the heavy lifting for you)

  • You can generate clients ‘on-demand' by hitting ‘send' on a perfectly crafted email… but most of the time you won't need to because your calendar's already full

  • You can stop doing all marketing “things” and still have a waiting list of clients ready to work with you (…that way you have the freedom to pick the one or 2 marketing actions you actually enjoy and get a buzz out of and do them really well)

  • You never need to worry about where your next client (or pay cheque) will come from

  • You can spend most of your energy and time doing the work you love instead of trying to do marketing and sales

  • The success of your coaching business becomes absolutely inevitable, without much effort on your part… aside from setting the system up in the first place (which does require substantial work, but it's totally do-able)

I gotta say, it leads to a pretty awesome lifestyle… and I love it!

The world’s best business coach

The best business coach in the world isn't me.

(Although, I'm a pretty close second).

It isn't any of the speakers who featured on the How Rich Coaches Think summit. And it isn't Tony Robbins, Eckhart Tolle, or anyone that's ever been on Oprah.

No. The world's best business coach, in my humble (but accurate) opinion, is:

Flip open your banking app and it will tell you.

Money is perhaps the world's greatest personal coach – and certainly the world's greatest Business Coach. Think about it … if you take a quick look at your bank account and listen to what your money is telling you, you'll discover that money…

  • Is always straight forward and honest with you

  • Is always completely neutral and has absolutely no judgement towards you whatsoever

  • Shows up in exact proportion to how much value you're producing (not in proportion to how hard you work)

  • Lets you know if you're charging enough, too little, or too much, and when to raise your fees (Note: charge too much or too little, and not much of it will show up in your account)

  • Is available 24/7 for a quick check-in, unlike most SLACKER coaches who only show up once a week for a session

  • Lets you know when it's time for quick-campaign to generate a big chunk of value for a lot of people (ie. a sales or marketing campaign)

  • Is the best possible feedback-giver on your business and marketing prowess

  • Lets you know if you're allocating resources appropriately to different areas of business and life

  • Lets you know if your team is too big or working too many hours on non-income producing work

  • Lets you know what you truly value in life – and where you're emotionally attached to things

  • Is always happy, ready and willing to show up in ever-increasing amounts, based on how high-vibe, abundance and love-based your thinking is (and based on your ability to channel those thoughts into solving people's problems in a way that creates value for them and in a way that is scalable and systematic)

I could go on, but it is very rare indeed to have a coach who does all these things for you… and asks for nothing in return but that you show up and pay attention.
